Many know of the word Serendipity: The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way". You know.., those random happenings that brighten your day, the ones that leave you with the feeling that "everything happens for a reason." Like that moment you are thinking about how nice it would be to hear your favorite song on the radio while driving in your car, you turn on that radio, and in one instant there that familiar tune is, ringing loud throughout the speakers of your car, leaving you with the feeling that you are some sort of physic human being. Or the moment when that one boy you have been hoping would notice you for the past five year calls you by name. Someone paying for your coffee at the Starbucks drive thru. Or simply, the time you think you have run out of eggs only to find another carton in the fridge in the garage, saving you a whole trip to the grocery store. Those "AHA!" moments, the delightful "OH THANK GOD" times.
These moments are simple, delicate parts of our lives that boost our confidence. We seek these moments to reassure ourselves that good can and does still chance upon the average individual. What we do not realize however is that we are all obsessed with these moments. Perhaps gluttony is a sin, but if this is the case, then the gluttony of the entire human population for these single every day moments, outweighs all of eternity.
Not that this is a bad thing. It's not a guilty pleasure, and certainly not something to hide. Simply put it is the way of life. We are all players in the game of life, and our one weakness is happiness. Sporadic, happiness that brightens the day. Now, you don't have to feel as though that one good thing didn't happen to you today. Because here I am to provide you with my personal serendipitous moments, and the ones of those around me for that matter. Serendipity can be found in the form of a question, in the form of laughter, in the form of tears. It is a gradual search for the thing that....makes YOU happy. Every single day.
The Lust for Serendipity.
